“Mapache” means “racoon” in Spanish, and we’re sure you’ll feel as snug as a raccoon in its den when you stay at this lovely vacation home close to Santa Fe’s amazing architecture, museums and galleries, and nightlife! Surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, this bright and cozy vacation home is close to historic downtown Santa Fe, where you can experience firsthand the amazing architecture of Santa Fe Plaza and the original Spanish Market Square, the 17th Century Palace of the Governors, the New Mexico Museum of Art, and the Loretto Chapel with its unusual spiral staircase winding up to the choir loft. From this convenient location you can visit nearby pueblos and immerse yourself in the rich Native American history and culture. And with an average of 320 sunny days each year, the area around Santa Fe is a hub for skiers, mountain bikers, golfers, hikers, river rafters, and so much more!

Just minutes from downtown Santa Fe, Casa Mapache sleeps eight people and is built in the traditional Pueblo Revival adobe style. A cozy living area features tiled floors, viga beamed ceiling, comfortable leather furnishings, a tiled panoramic fireplace and large flat-screen cable TV. Plenty of windows let in natural light and offer inspiring views of the surrounding terrain.

Gather at the large, farmhouse-style dining table for six in the rustic dining area to enjoy a family meal or game night. Conveniently close to the dining room, the spacious and beautiful gourmet kitchen features stainless steel appliances (including a gas stove), a butcher block-topped kitchen island and granite countertops with tile backsplash, while the expansive wood cabinets are well stocked with all the cookware, dinnerware, and utensils you’ll need to prepare your favorite Mexican dishes (or heat up leftovers from one of the many culinary delights the area has to offer). A cozy, well-lit breakfast nook is a lovely place to enjoy your morning coffee while checking the weather on your tablet (there’s free Wi-Fi).

All three of Casa Mapache’s sumptuous bedrooms are furnished with beautifully made-up king-size beds, ceiling fans, and beautifully tiled en suite bathrooms. The master bathroom features a large vanity with dual sinks, huge soaking tub, and tiled walk-in shower. More than one family traveling together? A second cozy seating area, kitchenette and dining area allow you plenty of opportunities for some private time. Afterwards, join the gang on the large, fenced-in patio, where a comfortable dining set and gas grill are perfect for cookouts, and finish the day in the rocking chairs around the fire pit while you watch the stars come out.

Located in near Historic Santa Fe with its plethora of opportunities for shopping, biking, hiking, rafting and skiing in nearby Taos, Casa Mapache is the ideal spot from which to enjoy your Southwestern vacation. So, book your stay today!

The property is perfectly located, charming, warm and cozy for the winter with several fire places (the front patio looks fantastic for the warmer months), safe and clean.

We loved our stay. The house was perfect for us. It is a little drafty and cold in parts of the house. But, it was part of the older Santa Fe charm.
