Description for Cowboy On The Acequia
If you have ever yearned to inhabit old Santa Fe in all its southwestern style glory, Cowboy on the Acequia is the casita you must rent. It's authentic charm and modern comforts will beguile you!
Located just a block away from Canyon Road in the heart of Santa Fe, Cowboy on the Acequia combines the best of ancient and brand-new. This adobe house really is like the cabin on a large ranch that Cowboys might have inhabited between cattle drives -- except that it is beautifully decorated and has all the "mod cons" you could wish, from heating and air conditioning to high-speed WiFi, cable, multiple TVs, and a DVD/CD player!
But it's hard to realize just how perfectly updated Cowboy on the Acequia really is when you first step into this enchanting casita. The rustic living room with wood-burning kiva stove in one corner, cowhide-covered couch in another, could have come to life from the pages of a Willa Cather novel. Sink into that big armchair in the corner, admiring the carved wooden furniture and polished-brick floor, and you can begin to feel Old New Mexico seeping into your bones! (But was it always this comfortable and pretty?!)
This house gets its name from the old watercourse, still in operation, that runs along its street. The Acequia Madre provided irrigation as early as the 17th Century and is still viable. As you settle into Cowboy on the Acequia, you realize that you aren't just emulating history here; you're living it!
The living room is charming, but the kitchen is a downright scene-stealer in this house. Open shelves, a rustic central table that actually may have been a butcher block, tiled counters and chile ristras hanging among the copper pots and pans -- for a minute you can imagine it really is the old West! Luckily, the spotless range, fridge, and other appliances mean that you don't have to cook like a pioneer . . . just enjoy the ambiance!
When the food is ready (or should we say, "rustled up"), serve it at the sweet dining room table beneath spotlights. Each room is a separate jewel box here at Cowboy on the Acequia, with its own treasures and unique beauty. Notice the fine southwestern rugs warming your toes, the fascinating viga ceilings, and the built-in shelving. They don't build houses like this anymore!
Two bedrooms and two full baths make Cowboy on the Acequia the perfect venue for two couples or a family traveling together. Each bedroom has a queen-sized bed, private TV, kiva fireplace, and easy access to a bath. One of the most interesting aspects of the bedrooms is the ceilings, richly detailed and so beautiful. With all there is to do in Santa Fe, there's not a chance you won't fall into bed exhausted each night, but even so, this house provides you with something lovely to look at as you drift off to sleep!
The bathrooms are brightly tiled, stocked with linens and towels to spare, and equipped with a shower and tub option. Inlaid viga-style ceilings and rustic wooden furnishings make them irresistible, too!
And although you may not want to leave your little casita, the patio and garden at Cowboy on the Acequia are worth daydreaming away a few hours in, too. Walled and very private despite its middle-of- city location, the property is spacious and well ordered, with seating on the covered patio as well as a table and chairs in the sunshine. In every season, you will find lovely places to enjoy the Santa Fe breezes here!
And when you step outside the gates, you are in the heart of the artist's colony, just minutes from superb art galleries, restaurants, shops, and more. Santa Fe is a walking town, and your journeys to and fro Cowboy on the Acequia may turn out to be as lovely as many of the sights you will see. Visit Santa Fe from the heart of its history: come stay at Cowboy on the Acequia!

Reviews for Cowboy On The Acequia
Cabin was nice we enjoyed staying.
This condo is by far the best we have ever stayed at . The rooms are spacious, the kitchen very well equipt and the views both ocean side and inter-coastal side are great. We would definitely consider staying here again.
Cowboy Defined Santa Fe
My friend and I rented this two bedroom home, and could not have been more pleased. Someone with incredible taste has furnished it! It's a block from Canyon Road, where the best galleries are. And, it's a couple of blocks to Paseo de Perlata, the main road that circles the old downtown, so there's easy access both to downtown and the highway to the pueblos and Taos.
There's a great backyard with a patio where we sat and listened to the birds. The living room and kitchen were welcome common space so that we felt like we were living in Santa Fe. Book it. You won't be disappointed!
